The tour begins by bus from Bodø and takes you north toward the Saltfjellet mountain area. Along the way, a three-part film is shown about Sámi culture and way of life in Northern Norway. The full film is viewed before we reach our first stop: the Arctic Circle.
At the Arctic Circle, there will be a small ceremony to mark the crossing. Here, participants will experience the magical Arctic light and watch a short film explaining the phenomenon of the Arctic Circle – and why the Midnight Sun is only visible north of it.
After the visit to the Arctic Circle, we continue to the National Park Centre at Storjord. A traditional Sámi lunch dish, Bidos, is served, and we gain insight into the nature and culture surrounding the Saltfjellet and Svartisen National Parks. Coffee is enjoyed outdoors – close to the raw northern nature. In winter, there is also a chance to meet reindeer in the area.
The visit concludes with a stop at the Adde Zetterquist Gallery, located in the same building as the National Park Centre. The gallery features art by Per Adde and Kaisa Zetterquist – strongly inspired by the landscape and Sámi culture.
